It sounds like you've set your PSP to boot into recovery and restore, by mistake I guess? Go into the Configuration menu and look for Autorun program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP. Make sure it's not selected by using the right and left arrow keys.

This is NOT the same as what you see in the root of the recovery menu, you need to go into the Configuration section to change the setting.

Let me know if this helps.

The configuration menu is in the Recovery Menu, that's correct.

I'll flag this for the other member's of the staff, someone will help you resolve this shortly as my PSP is on the fritz (needs a new charger, battery is dead).

I can't figure out why its stuck in recovery mode. Have you tried removing the battery then running it again? If that doesn't work then I suggest you look into Recovery Flasher made by HellCat. Wonderful utility, will flash a completely new firmware without needing anything else.

Just put that app in the memory stick and run it from the recovery menu. App comes with instructions, but if you need more help feel free to post.

Check out this link, it contains the guide and a link to our firmware section, where you can download the recovery flasher.

EDIT: Like PrO said, try plugging the PSP into the wall, remove the battery and boot it up. If you've ever made your battery into a Pandora, it's possible that it's stuck in 'tool mode'. Try this before recovering.
