Topics I've Started

  1. I need an adapter..

    Posted 25 Jan 2010

I've got my brand new PS2 Logitech Wireless Action Controller, and I want to use it for my PS3, as a third controller. So, I need an adapter.

Someone tried the ebay adapters (PS2/PS3->PC) and said they don't work with this controller, anyone here used it with success with either the controller I have or another wireless controller?
  2. PS3 + Netflix

    Posted 23 Jan 2010

So I'm moving next week, Stevo knows that I think but not many of you do.. I'll be maintaining my internet connection (bumping up to 10Mbps, actually! @ 5Mbps now..) and I decided that, for my entertainment, I'd try Netflix. For those out of the US, that's a DVD mailing service - you pay a flat monthly fee, they'll mail you our a DVD or Bluray of your choice, when you mail it back, you get another.

I realized when I signed up that there's a Netflix Watch Now option for the PS3! So I requested the free disc and it should be here Monday or Tuesday for me to test out but, until then, does anyone here have it already? Does the PS3 do a good job upconverting the streaming video?

Any other thoughts on the matter are also welcomed :)

Today I've added yet another member to our growing staff. Welcome to the staff, spudkid!

I feel that spudkid will be a vital part of our staff due in part to how often he visits PSP Scene, but also because of his ability to easily interact with everybody and help people.

Welcome to your new position on PSP Scene! If you have an issues, questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to PM myself or KingStevo69 :)

  4. Welcome & Congratulations!

    Posted 17 Jan 2010

    I'd like to take this time to welcome to new members to the staff;

    KingStevo69 - Admin
    Goz - Global Moderator

Stevo was one of the original PSP Scene Moderators who left when the site slowed down in '08, but came back to join us a few months back. His promotion is in part due to how active he is in the PS3 community, but mostly because of his leadership skills and ability to help people without bias.

Goz is a long-time contributor and member to PSP Scene. His contributions often keep the site going during non-peek months when ad revenue can't cover the portion of the server and software bills that we can't afford to cover. His promotion is in part to how active he is on the forums (daily), but mostly because he's an honest person and a quick learner who, I feel, will be a great addition to our staff.

To the both of you, welcome to your new position on the staff board. I look forward to working with both of you! Please don't hesitate to PM, IM or email me with any questions or concerns about your new positions.

  5. PS3 DVR Kit - Sweet!

Sony is readying a new PS3 accessory that will let owners turn the console into a digital video recorder. The kit, called "Torne", is set to become available in Japan this March.

Torne comes with a digital tuner that plugs into the PS3 via USB and the software required for viewing, browsing and recording programs. The latter comes on a Blu-ray disc and can be installed onto the PS3's hard drive.

Users can choose to record programs onto the PS3's hard drive or to an external hard drive attached via USB. Recordings can be done even when the console is in standby mode or when you're using the XMB's other features. Yes, you can record while you play a game too.

A PSP (or a PSP Go) can be used to control the PS3 via Remote Play, but you'll have to plug it into the PS3's USB port if you want to transfer any of the stuff you recorded. Copying videos will automatically convert them to the PSP's native resolution.

Sony has priced the Torne kit at JP¥ 9,980 (US$ 110). Apart from the standalone kit, they'll also be bundling it with a 250 gigabyte PS3. This "Chi-Digi Recorder Pack" will sell for ¥ 42,800 (US$ 469).

This sounds freakin' awesome! I will be buying one as soon as I can find one, and I'll be upgrading my PS3 to 750GB :D
